The following list, provided by The National Institute on Drug Abuse, may be helpful:<\/p>\n

People with substance abuse, addiction and mental health challenges might act differently than they used to. They might:<\/strong><\/h5>\n

• possess drugs and\/or paraphernalia<\/li>\n
• have physical and visible signs of drug effected behavior<\/li>\n
• spend a lot of time alone<\/li>\n
• lose interest in their favorite things<\/li>\n
• lose interest in their personal care, for instance, not bathe, change clothes, or brush their teeth<\/li>\n
• be really tired and sad<\/li>\n
• be very energetic, talk fast, or say things that don’t make sense<\/li>\n
• be nervous or cranky (in a bad mood)<\/li>\n
• quickly change between feeling bad and feeling good<\/li>\n
• sleep at strange hours<\/li>\n
• miss important appointments<\/li>\n
• have problems at work or school<\/li>\n
• eat a lot more or a lot less than usual<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
