Rally with Recovery Ready Cleveland in September

The YPR Recovery Month Event is coming up

Recovery ready Cleveland - YPR

Can you believe it has already been a year since the initial Young People in Recovery: Cleveland launch? A year since New Directions received grant awards from two very generous community partners: The Cleveland Foundation and the Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services (ADAMHS) Board of Cuyahoga County. A year since these tremendous gifts jump-started our relationship with the Young People in Recovery (YPR) team.

We started with a Kick-Off Event last November (2016) to excite and engage our community in providing leadership for YPR Chapters being established throughout the Northeast Ohio region. Since then, we have fashioned West and East side of Cleveland Chapters, and had information and interest sessions for the South side and Lake County. YPR teams continue to have weekly leadership meetings, pro-social events for our young community, and messaging and employment workshops.

West and East side Chapters are preparing logistics for “All-Recovery” Meetings. But wait, what does “All-Recovery” really mean? Together, we strive to build community among individuals from many pathways to recovery, including their allies. Collaboration is critical to increase community goodwill.

Recovery Ready Cleveland

Now, a year later, we are planning a new event to unite Cleveland, educate new members and continue to foster a recovery ready Cleveland. September is recovery month, so what better time to celebrate recovery than that?

Want to know more and meet with your peers? Join us at our Recovery Month event on Monday, September 11th from 6:30 to 7:30pm.  All are invited! YOU are important!

The Ford Room at the Jerry Sue Thornton Center at Cuyahoga Community College has been reserved for our Rally as Recovery Ready Cleveland. Express yourself and make your voice heard to our panel of YPR and New Directions leadership, as well as to our community stakeholders who are advocates of our Recovery Community.

If you have heard about YPR–or even if you haven’t yet–but still are not sure exactly what it is, this event is a great opportunity to come and find out. If you have have been wondering exactly who is part of the YPR community, join us and meet a large part of the YPR recovery group. Come out and connect with others and learn how to get more involved in the community. You won’t regret it! You will meet plenty of advocates working to end the stigma surrounding substance use disorder and recovery. You will find resources for recovery support, forums for community education and social outlets for those in recovery to thrive. Come help us continue our mission of creating a recovery ready Cleveland.
