New Directions uses a Recovery App to increase retention and treatment completion

New Directions uses new recovery app in treatment

recovery app

We’ve recently increased our intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) completion rates by 20%, and with clients needing less treatment sessions!

With the help of the Cleveland Foundation and a Case Western Reserve research study, New Directions utilized a recovery app to increase client engagement and IOP completion–both important indicators in early recovery.

A young male client of ours was visiting his parents one evening and sadly, emotions were high and tempers escalating. Treatment and Recovery are HARD – not only for the client trying to lead a sober lifestyle, but also their caretakers, with an intensive need pressed on top of their fast-paced lives.

Our client was becoming more agitated and anxious, but then he remembered in a moment that he had crisis support at his fingertips. He began texting immediately with our therapists and treatment specialists. Someone is always reachable, 24/7/365. This personal contact simmered down the confrontation between the client and his parents, and avoided a phone call for legal intervention. The young man was ready to continue his treatment at New Directions the next day, and with a fresh outlook.

Staff members Sue Tager and Alicia Monaco recently presented these findings at the state-wide conference, Addiction Studies Institute (ASI) in Columbus, Ohio. As we ALL chase this opiate epidemic, these are exciting, positive results to share with our clients and families.

We are proud to be part of the solution in these trying times.
